Rick Fox On Road To Washington
January 22, 2009 | Men's Basketball
Jan. 22, 2009
You probably already know about one Carolina Basketball connection to newly inaugurated President Barack Obama. But you might not have heard about the one involving Rick Fox.
The Tar Heel standout recently took a cross-country bus trip to attend Obama's inauguration, and he's posted a blog of his travels. It's a very lengthy post, and be forewarned that if you're on political overload, you might want to skip some parts. But it's worthwhile reading to hear him describe Dean Smith as a "mentor and father figure," and to hear his thoughts on how growing up in a variety of locations (Canada, the Bahamas, and Warsaw, Ind.) impact his views on being an American.
In later entries, Bobby Frasor will be pleased to know that Fox ate at Gibson's while in Chicago. As Frasor can tell you, that's a wise choice.
Fox's blog needs to be updated with the rest of his trip, when he'll hopefully continue to get good wear out of his very stylish Carolina jacket.
