The Tar Heels' 16-3 loss to Virginia was its fourth straight in the series. UNC leads the all-time series by a 57-53-4 margin.
The Tar Heels scored three points, their fewest since a 7-0 loss to Georgia Tech in 2006. That defeat was also the last time UNC was held without a touchdown.
The Tar Heels were held below 200 yards of total offense for the second straight week. Carolina posted just 154 yards last week at Georgia Tech and followed with 174 yards today. UNC gained just 39 yards rushing versus Virginia after picking up just 17 yards on the ground last week in Atlanta.
Sophomore defensive end Robert Quinn had a career-best three sacks Saturday against Virginia for his second multi-sack outing in the last three games after recording two against East Carolina. He now leads the Tar Heels with six sacks on the season. With four tackles for losses Saturday, Quinn has 8.5 tackles for losses in the last three games.
Junior cornerback Kendric Burney picked up his second career sack when he stopped Jameel Sewell for an 8-yard loss late in the second quarter.
Junior wide receiver Greg Little had a game-high eight catches for a season-best 63 yards. He has posted five or more catches three times this season, all in the last four games.
Sophomore tight end Christian Wilson picked up his first catch of the season and the longest of his career with a 14-yard grab in the first quarter.
Sophomore fullback Devon Ramsey made his first career start and made his first career catch in the third quarter.
The Tar Heels were blanked in the first half for the third time in five games this season.
Virginia scored first on a 36-yard field goal in the second quarter to mark the fourth straight game that the Tar Heels' opponent has scored first.
