Henson Wins Annual Mile Run

CHAPEL HILL - The University of North Carolina men's basketball team held its annual Mile Run on Friday morning, and freshman John Henson was the winner in a close finish with classmate Dexter Strickland.
Henson and Strickland both posted times of 5:21, but Henson's late pass of Strickland in the final yards before the finish line gave him the close victory.
Henson (5:21), David Wear (5:28), Marcus Ginyard (5:29), Justin Watts (5:29), Travis Wear (5:36) and Tyler Zeller (5:43) all made their "tough time" goals for the mile run, exempting them from running sprints after practices early this preseason.
The Tar Heels will kick off their 2009-10 season at the annual Late Night with Roy celebration on Friday Oct. 16. Carolina's first regular season game will come on Nov. 9 against Florida International.
