UNC Women's Golf Team Inks Three Recruits

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina women's golf coach Jan Mann announced the signing of Jackie Chang, Casey Grice and Katherine Perry, who will join the Tar Heel team in the fall of 2010.
"We are excited to have Casey, Jackie and Katherine joining our Carolina women's golf program in the fall of 2010," says Tar Heel head coach Jan Mann. "They have all demonstrated their exceptional abilities as golfers and students throughout their high school careers. The added talent and depth that they bring to our team will enable us to be an extremely competitive program. We look forward to the contributions that each will make to our Carolina family."
Chang, from Paradise Valley, Ariz., played in the top spot at Notre Dame Prepatory High School and was chosen most valuable player three times (2006, 2007, 2008). She won the 2008 and 2009 Arizona 4A Division II State Championship and was the regional champion in 2007 and 2008. Chang was the medalist at the 2009 U.S. Girls Junior Qualifier and advanced to the second round of match play. She won the 2009 Arborlinks PGA Junior and made the cut at the 2009 PGA Junior National Championship. Chang was the Southwest Section PGA State Champion in 2007 and 2008 and had several top-three finishes. She had numerous top-five finishes in AJGA, FCWT and Arizona Junior Golf Association events. Chang won the 2008 FCWT St. Andrews Classic and was a 2008 Laura Diaz second team All-America. She was runner-up at the 2008 AJGA Lockton Capital Federal Junior and won the 2008 Antigua Milt Coggins Junior in the Arizona Junior Golf Association.
Grice, from College Station, Texas, was a three-time letterwinner at A&M Consolidated High School. She won the Texas State 5A Championship in 2008. In addition she won two Region II Championships (2008, 2009) and two District 12-5A Championships (2007-2008). She was selected her team's most valuable player for three years (2007, 2008, 2009), three-time All-District (2007, 2008, 2009), three-time All-Region (2007, 2008, 2009) and two-time All-State (2008, 2009). Grice advanced to the second round of match play in the 2008 U.S. Girls Junior Championship and made the cut in stroke play in 2009. She won the 2009 AJGA Colorado Junior at Flying Horse and was runner up at the 2009 AJGA Bob Estes Abilene Junior and 2008 AJGA New Mexico Open. She made the cut in the 2009 Rolex Tournament of Champions, tying for 22nd and was selected to the 2007 AJGA Junior All Star National Team. A 2009 AJGA HP Scholastic All-America, Grice is a 2009 Wendy's High School Heisman All State Finalist (national winners to be announced in December) and member of Texas Association of Golf Coaches 2009 Super Academic All State Team.
Perry, from Cary, N.C., is a four-time letterwinner at Athens Drive High School. She won the 2009 N.C. 4A State Championship leading her team to the 4A title in 2008 and 2009. Perry was selected All-Conference and All-Region four times (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) and All-State three times (2007, 2008, 2009). She was chosen the Conference Player of the Year in 2007 and 2009. Perry won the 2009 N.C. Women's Amateur. She played in the 2009 U.S. Women's Open after winning the sectional qualifier at Carolina Trace in Sanford. Perry was the runner-up at the 2009 North and South Junior and advanced to match play at the 2009 U.S. Girls Junior. She recently won the Peggy Kirk Bell Finale Invitational in Greensboro. Perry is a member of the 2009 All Carolinas Junior Team and the 2008 Tar Heel Youth Golf Association's (TYGA) All-State Girl's Junior First Team. She is also ranked #1 by TYGA.
