CHAPEL HILL --- North Carolina (19-3, 4-2 ACC) looks for its 20th win of the season when the Tar Heels host Virginia Tech Thursday night at 7 at the Smith Center. Carolina is coming off a 98-45 win over North Carolina Central on Super Bowl Sunday. Virginia Tech is coming off a 68-62 overtime win over USC Upstate on Monday. Carolina is ranked No. 8 in the AP poll and No. 9 in the coaches' poll. Virginia Tech is unranked.

VIRGINIA TECH SERIES NOTES
North Carolina is 11-2 all-time against Virginia Tech, including a 6-0 mark in Chapel Hill.
The Tar Heels won the only meeting in 2008, a 79-59 decision in Blacksburg.
UNC won the last meeting in Chapel Hill, 102-68, on Jan. 4, 2007. The 102 points were the most either team has scored in the series.
The Tar Heels have won eight straight games in the series. Virginia Tech's last win in the series came in Roanoke, Va., on Dec. 1, 1984, a 74-73 decision.
NOTING THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech is 11-11 (1-6 ACC) on the season after a 68-62 overtime win over USC Upstate on Monday.
Junior forward Utahya Drye leads the Hokies in scoring and rebounding with 14.3 points and 7.0 rebounds per contest. Junior guard Lindsay Biggs adds 13.0 points per outing.
TAR HEELS TOUGH TO BEAT AT HOME
Carolina's overall home record since the beginning of the 2004-05 season is 79-3. The Tar Heels have won 33 of 34 in Chapel Hill, including their last 10 home conference games. In addition, UNC has won 77 of its last 78 non-conference home games.
CAROLINA IN THE SMITH CENTER
UNC will play all of its home games at the Dean E. Smith Center in 2008-09 while Carmichael Auditorium is renovated.
The Tar Heels are 30-10 all-time at the Smith Center and have won 18 of 18 in the building.
STREAKS
Carolina has won two straight after dropping three in a row from Jan. 19-25.
Virginia Tech has won three of four since losing five straight from Jan. 8-21.
