Tar Heel Title Team Together One More Time

One last time, Carolina's 2009 national championship basketball team reconvened late Sunday night at the Smith Center. The Tar Heels always take a team picture at the beginning of the season--coaches in suits, players in uniform--for the media guide (and for posterity).
But when there are national championship trophies to use as props, it makes sense to take a second version of the photo after the season. So the Tar Heels reassembled one last time for photographer Jeffrey Camarati. That might not sound like a particularly dangerous proposition, but keep in mind that the NABC championship trophy's retail price is $19,500. There were only two minor incidents: one when Jonas Sahratian almost hip-checked the trophy into oblivion, and one when head manager Brandon Rhodes had to make a nearly diving save as a loose ball from an impromptu pickup game trickled too near the crystal.
It was a busy night at the Smith Center, as before and after the team picture championship book and commemorative DVD.
