Tar Heel guard Wayne Ellington became the third Carolina player to go in the first round of Thursday's NBA Draft when Minnesota picked him with the 28th overall selection. Earlier in the night, Tyler Hansbrough went at No. 13 to Indiana and Ty Lawson went at No. 18 to Minnesota.
The Timberwolves reportedly will trade Lawson to Denver, which is coached by former UNC guard George Karl. Earlier on Thursday, former Tar Heel All-America was traded to Orlando by the New Jersey Nets.
