- Saturday was Carolina's first win against Florida State in Tallahassee and just the second win all-time in the series. UNC defeated FSU, 41-9, in 2001 in Chapel Hill. With the win, Carolina improves to 2-15-1 against the Seminoles.
- With its sixth win of the season, Carolina is now bowl-eligible for the third straight season. That is the longest such run since going to eight straight bowls from 1991 through 1998.
- Quarterback T.J. Yates finished 24 of 35 for a school-record 439 yards and three touchdowns. It was his fifth career 300+ yard game and his second career 400+ yard game. He is the first player in program history to pass for 400+ yards twice in a career. Yates, who passed for 412 yards earlier this season against LSU, has the top two passing performances in the ACC this season.
- Yates has now completed 693 of 1126 attempts for 8271 yards and 53 touchdowns in his career, moving him into for 14th place in ACC history in passing yards. Yates is second in UNC history in attempts, completions, yards and TDs.
- Wide receiver Dwight Jones finished with eight catches for a career-high 233 yards and a touchdown. The 233-yard effort was his third career 100-yard receiving game, all of which have occurred in the last four weeks.
- After entering the season with just 21 career receiving yards, Jones now has two of the top six receiving efforts in school history. His 233-yard effort Saturday ranks second on the school single-game list, while his 198 yards against Virginia are sixth-best at Carolina.
- The Yates-to-Jones touchdown in the first quarter was the seventh completion of the season for Yates of more than 50 yards. The pair teamed up again in the third quarter for a 56-yard strike, giving Yates eight completions of 50+ yards in 2010, with four of those hookups going for touchdowns. Yates completed a 97-yard TD pass to Jheranie Boyd against LSU, an 81-yarder to Jones against Virginia and a 52-yarder to Erik Highsmith against Georgia Tech.
- Yates, who made his 40th career start today, has completed 20 passes of 50 yards or more, with 13 of those going for touchdowns.
- Wide receiver Joshua Adams finished with career highs of five catches and 91 yards. He also tallied his first career touchdown, a 4-yard score in the third quarter that gave UNC a 31-28 lead.
- Running back Anthony Elzy scored his first career receiving touchdown in the second quarter, a 14-yard catch and run.
- Tailback Hunter Furr entered the game in the fourth quarter and rushed three times for a career-high 27 yards. His previous best was six yards against Georgia Southern in 2009.
- Place kicker Casey Barth converted all four extra point attempts on the day, giving him 63 consecutive made PATs. Barth also made field goals of 46, 31 and 22 yards. The 46-yarder was the longest make of his career.
- With 13 points on Saturday, Barth moved into eighth place on the UNC all-time scoring list with 220 career points.
- Tailback Johnny White scored his time-high seventh rushing touchdown of the season in the first quarter. He later left the game due to a broken right clavicle and is out for the season.
- Carolina scored on its opening offensive drive for the fifth time this season and the fourth time in five weeks. The Tar Heels had opening-drive touchdowns against both Clemson and Virginia, and first-possession field goals against Georgia Tech and Miami.
