Carolina Travels To Atlanta For Final ACC Road Game

ATLANTA --- North Carolina (17-9, 5-7 Atlantic Coast Conference) hits the road for the final time in the regular season when the Tar Heels head to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech Friday night at 6:30 at Alexander Memorial Coliseum. UNC dropped its third straight home game Sunday afternoon, losing to NC State, 74-63. Georgia Tech (21-7, 7-5 ACC) is coming off a 77-73 win at Miami on Sunday. UNC is unranked but receiving votes in the AP poll while Georgia Tech is ranked No. 22 in the AP poll.

GEORGIA TECH SERIES NOTES
• North Carolina is 51-12 all-time against Georgia Tech, including a 21-7 mark in Chapel Hill.
• Carolina has won 14 of the last 15 in the series, with each team winning on its home court in 2009.
• The Tar Heels won earlier this season in Chapel Hill, 89-78.
• UNC has more wins over Georgia Tech than any other ACC opponent except for Wake Forest (56-12).
NOTING THE YELLOW JACKETS
• Georgia Tech is 21-7 on the season and 7-5 in the ACC following a 77-73 win at Miami on Sunday.
• The Yellow Jackets are led in scoring and rebounding by senior forward Brigitte Ardossi. The Melbourne, Australia, product averages 15.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest. Ardossi also leads Georgia Tech with 56 steals on the year.
• Four Georgia Tech players currently average double figures in scoring, with Alex Montgomery, Sasha Goodlett and Deja Foster joining Ardossi.

CHAPEL HILL --- Bonae Holston scored 14 of her 20 points in the second half to help North Carolina State beat struggling rival North Carolina 74-63 on Sunday. Freshman Marissa Kastanek added 17 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Wolfpack (16-11, 6-6 Atlantic Coast Conference), who used a 15-0 run midway through the second half to push ahead for good.
CAROLINA IN THE NATIONAL STATISTICS
The most recent NCAA statistics report was released on Feb. 22, and the Tar Heels are highly ranked in a number of categories. UNC is among the nation's top 10 in three-point field goal defense. Here are the categories that feature Carolina in the top 20 (all stats per game):

• Scoring - 13th (77.3)
FREE THROWS EQUAL WINS FOR DeGRAFFENREID, TAR HEELS
The Jan. 25 win over NC State marked the 16th time in her career that junior Cetera DeGraffenreid has attempted at least 10 free throws, and the Tar Heels are 15-2 in those games. DeGraffenreid and classmate Italee Lucas both rank among the top 10 in school history in career free throw percentage.
CAROLINA IN CARMICHAEL
• Carolina returned to Carmichael Dec. 29 after a year and a half absence, during which the Tar Heels won 25 of 26 games at the Dean E. Smith Center.
• UNC is 379-86 (.815) all-time in Carmichael, its primary home since the first varsity season of 1974-75.
• Prior to the most recent renovation, the Tar Heels were on quite a roll in the historic gym. Beginning with the 2001-02 season, Carolina posted a 103-6 home record in Carmichael.
DeGRAFFENREID, LUCAS JOIN 1,000-POINT CLUB
With seven points in the win over Kennesaw State on Dec. 29, junior Cetera DeGraffenreid became the 31st player in school history to reach 1,000 career points. She currently stands 26th overall with 1,179 points. Junior Italee Lucas reached the milestone with six points against Duke on Feb. 8. Lucas currently stands 30th overall with 1,070 points.
LUCAS MOVES INTO THREE-POINT TOP 10 LIST
With three made three-pointers Dec. 13 against Gardner-Webb, junior guard Italee Lucas took over sole possession of 10th place in the all-time UNC career threes list. The Las Vegas, Nev., product has made 142 career threes in 96 games, and is also in the top 10 in career three-point percentage with a 35.8 (142-397) percent mark.
