Tar Heel Jack Fields Leads Seminole Intercollegiate

Carolina's Jack Fields fired an even par 71 in the second round of the Seminole Intercollegiate to hold on to the individual lead. Fields stands at five-under 137 and holds a four-stroke lead going into Sunday's final round. The Tar Heel team fired an 11-over-par 295 in the second round and stands in third place with a 580 total.
Fields, a sophomore from Southern Pines, N.C., has led the Tar Heels throughout the tournament. In Friday's first round, he fired a five-under-par 66. His even par 71 on Saturday featured three birdies and three bogies. Carolina junior Philip Chauncey, from Durham, N.C., is tied for 16th place after carding a 75 in the second round for a four-over 146 total. Junior Henry Zaytoun III, from Raleigh, N.C., is one stroke back at five-over 147 in a tie for 21st place. Also tied for 21st is junior Kevin O'Connell, from Cary, N.C., who is playing as an individual. Michael McGowan, a freshman from Southern Pines, N.C., has a 150 total and is tied for 38th while Matt Raudenbush, a sophomore from Pine Valley, N.J., had a 154 total and is tied for 52nd.
Florida State, which carded a 298 in the second round, leads the 14-team field with an eight-over-par 576 total. South Carolina is one stroke back in second place at nine-over 577 while Carolina and North Texas are tied for third at 12-over 580. Vanderbilt holds a 584 total and is in fifth place while Arkansas is sixth at 585 and Baylor is seventh at 592.
Fields' five-under-par 137 two-day total is four strokes better than Florida State's Doug Letson, who fired an even par 71 on Saturday for a one-under 141 total. Four players are tied for third place at even par 142 - North Texas' Rodolfo Cazaubon and Dustin Thompson, South Carolina's Wesley Bryan and Florida State's Seath Lauer.
The final round of the 54-hole event will be played Sunday at Southwood Golf Club which features a par 71, 7,143-yard layout.
