CHAPEL HILL, N.C. --- University of North Carolina Head Coach Donna J. Papa announced the addition of high school senior Logan Foulks to the class of 2014. Foulks signed the National Letter of Intent to attend Carolina this week and becomes the sixth member of the 2010-11 Class, joining Ashley Bone, Sara Buchholz, Amy Nece, Jordan Scarboro and Lori Spingola, all who signed NLIs in the fall.
Foulks, a 5'4" third baseman from Alexander High School in Douglasville, Ga., chose the Tar Heels because, "the athletics and academics are equally balanced. The coaches and softball team are a great fit for what I was looking for in a program. I knew from the first time I stepped foot on campus that it was the university I wanted to represent."
Foulks, who bats and throws right-handed, received the Wendy's Heisman High School Award as a senior. The four-time All-County selection set the Georgia Home Run Derby record with nine and received the Bobby Bailey Award given to outstanding women athletes this past season.
Foulks adds to a class that Coach Papa lauded for "their strong commitment to academics along with their personalities, make a great fit for our softball program and Carolina," Papa said. "We have shored up our pitching, and added speed and offensive power. This class will make an impact on our program for years to come."
