Perry Advances To Semifinals At N.C. Junior Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. -
Katherine Perry, an incoming freshman on the University of North Carolina women's golf team, advanced to the semifinals of the 43rd North Carolina Junior Championship being played at Forest Oaks Country Club. Perry now faces Maddison Kennedy of Salisbury at 8:20 Friday morning. Meanwhile, James Ellis, an incoming freshman on the men's team fell in the quarterfinals in extra holes.
Perry, from Cary, defeated Taylor Penzer of Summerfield 1 up in the round of 16 and then defeated Mallory Warrick of Wilson 5 and 4 in the quarterfinals. The Girls' Championship is being played on a par 72, 2,007-yard layout.
Ellis, from Greenville, defeated George Whiting of Charlotte 4 and 3 in the round of 16 before losing to Carter Page of Waynesville in 19 holes. The Boy's Championship is being played on a par 72, 7,048-yard layout.
The annual junior championship is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
