The Major League Baseball signing deadline passed Monday night with five future Tar Heels remaining unsigned. Leading the way was Kent Emanuel who was drafted in the 19th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Emmanuel will be joined by 13 other Tar Heels this fall as classes are scheduled to begin Tuesday, Aug. 24.
