CHAPEL HILL - Tickets for the men's basketball season opener against Michigan State on the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson will not be on sale to the general public and promise to be among the toughest to acquire in recent Carolina history.
Friday morning's Fast Break Against Cancer breakfast, hosted by Tar Heel head coach Roy Williams in the Smith Center, will auction off a pair of tickets to the historic contest.
The UNC-Michigan State game will be the first college basketball game to be played on an aircraft carrier and is a rematch of the 2009 NCAA championship game won by Carolina. The contest will be played on Veterans Day (Nov. 11) in San Diego and honor the men and women of the U.S. armed forces.
The Fast Break Against Cancer breakfast will be held from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Friday morning in the Smith Center. Tickets are still available - call Lauren Hipp at 919-966-5905 by 3 p.m. on Thursday to purchase your tickets and get the opportunity to bid on this amazing live auction package.
Persons unable to attend Fast Break Against Cancer who would like to bid on this item, should contact Nicole Pratapas at 919-966-5905 or nicole_pratapas@med.unc.edu by 5 p.m. on Thursday to register for phone bidding. This option is available for a limited number of registered off-site bidders.
