CHAPEL HILL - Lauren Pembleton and Erin Gallagher combined on a two-hit shutout as St. Joseph's defeated North Carolina 8-0 Saturday afternoon at Anderson Stadium. Brittany Robinson made several stellar defensive players, but UNC fell to 8-5 on the year.
Sara Buchholz (1-2) suffered the loss allowing five runs on four hits in one inning of work. Lori Spingola allowed three runs, two earned, in three innings of relief.

St. Joseph's manufactured five runs in the first inning behind four hits. A two-RBI single off the bat of Monica Aguilar provided a pair of runs. Rochelle Christman cranked a three-run home run over the left field fence to extend the lead to 5-0.
The Redhawks added an insurance run in the second frame. A Bernadette Moran RBI single gave St. Joseph's a 6-0 lead after two frames. The Redhawks scratched together two more runs in the fourth to secure the 8-0 win.
