Matt Doherty, playing his final home game, sinks one at the end of regulation and sends the game into OT. Michael Jordan and Sam Perkins each score 25 points and North Carolina wins 96-83 in double-overtime, preserving their perfect 14-0 ACC record.

The Tar Heels win their 11th ACC championship by defeating Duke 77-74 in the ACC title game. Tournament MVP J.R. Reid contributes heavily in the victory, while Scott Williams posts a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

After going 0-2 in the regular season against Duke, North Carolina takes it to the Blue Devils in the ACC Championship game. In the largest margin of victory in ACC championship history since 1968, Tournament MVP Rick Fox scores 25 points and Hubert Davis adds 17 to help the Tar Heels win, 96-74.

The defending national champion and No. 1 Duke Blue Devils enter a hostile Smith Center and fall to the Heels 75 - 73. Eric Montross suffers a gash to the head and becomes a poster boy for North Carolina determination.

Two of college basketball's titans square off in a battle between nationally ranked No. 1 and No. 2. The Blue Devils ultimately come up short in the end as Derrick Phelps' 18 points and six assists led North Carolina's 89-78 upset over No. 1 Duke.

ACC leading scorer Antawn Jamison and electric guard Vince Carter lifted second-ranked North Carolina over the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils.

North Carolina upsets No. 1 Duke and wins their second consecutive ACC championship. Led by Vince Carter, the Tar Heels defense was stifling in the second half and shut down the Blue Devils. Antawn Jamison scored a double-double with 22 points and 18 rebounds as the Tar Heels defeated the Blue Devils 83-68.
February 1, 2001. Durham

Carolina's Matt Doherty faces the Blue Devils for the first time as head coach. Duke's Jason Williams puts up 32 points, however the Blue Devils struggle at the free throw line in this thriller that went down to the wire. Tar Heel guard Joseph Forte has a stellar game, with 24 points and 18 rebounds, as North Carolina wins it 85-83.
