Ten Carolina Gymnasts named to EAGL All-Academic Team

The East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) named ten gymnasts from the University of North Carolina to the All-Academic Team for the 2011 season, announced by the league this week.
Honorees included: Freshmen Kristin Aloi (undecided) and Acacia Cosentino (undecided); Sophomores Elizabeth Durkac (Undecided), Michelle Ikoma (undecided), Meredith Magjuika (undecided), Maura Masastugu (undecided); Juniors Taylor Brown (psychology), Krista Jasper (dramatic arts) and Elizabeth Lindley (exercise and sports science); and Senior Teri Diamond (journalism).
Student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher in order to be named to the EAGL All-Academic team. Freshmen are eligible if they earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester.
Overall, 91 gymnasts were named to the EAGL All-Academic team. Awards will be presented to the teams at the 2011 EAGL Championship banquet in Washington, D.C. this weekend.
The 2011 EAGL Championship is hosted by George Washington and will begin Saturday, March 19, at 2 p.m.
