Carolina won its ACC opening game for the 50th time in 59 seasons and the seventh time in nine seasons under head coach Roy Williams.
The Tar Heels extended their Smith Center record winning streak to 27 consecutive games (previous high was 25 from 1992-94).
Including a win over William and Mary at Carmichael Arena in the 2010 NIT, the Tar Heels have now won 28 straight home games, the second-longest streak in UNC history and the longest since a 32-game stretch from 1926-1929.
Harrison Barnes led all scorers with 25 points and added a career-high four steals. It was his sixth 20-point game this year and 14th of his career. He made a season-high 10 field goals today.
Barnes has scored 20 or more points in three of the last four games and is averaging 22.2 points in those four games. Barnes is 34 for 55 (.618) from the floor in those four games.

Kendall Marshall had 11 assists and three turnovers. It was his seventh double-figure assist game this year and the 13th of his career. He tied Kenny Smith for fourth-most 10+ assist games by a Tar Heel.
Marshall's updated numbers are 161 assists and 39 turnovers for the season (10.1 assists per game, 4.1 assist-error ratio) and 391 assists and 131 turnovers for his career (7.4 assists per game, 2.98 assist-error ratio).
