Tar Heels To Host Shaw Friday

CHAPEL HILL - The UNC men's basketball team will play its only scheduled exhbition game of the 2012-13 preseason when it hosts Shaw University on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. in the Smith Center. The game will be streamed live on GoHeels.com.

Carolina will look to break in four new starters after having lost Tyler Zeller, John Henson, Harrison Barnes and Kendall Marshall to the NBA Draft over the summer. Senior Dexter Strickland returns from season-ending knee surgery, and junior Reggie Bullock also is back. Junior Leslie McDonald is recovered from knee surgery that forced him to miss all of last season.
Sophomore forward James Michael McAdoo has earned preseason All-America honors and grabbed a spot on the preseason All-Atlantic Coast Conference team last week. A four-man freshman class led by likely point guard starter Marcus Paige also includes forwards J.P. Tokoto, Joel James and Brice Johnson.
The Bears went 27-4 last season and dropped an 80-66 exhibition decision at Duke in early November 2011.
