CHAPEL HILL --- When the North Carolina women's basketball team takes on rival NC State on Sunday, Feb. 19 at 1:30 p.m. in Carmichael Arena, it will be Carolina's Play 4Kay game - an annual event promoting breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond.
Carolina will have a variety of special events and opportunities surrounding this game that fans will not want to miss! Tickets are still available, so come cheer on the Tar Heels as they take on the Wolfpack and help us "Turn It Pink"!
Special features of Sunday's game will include:
- The Tar Heels will be wearing pink Nike uniforms and shoes
- The Chapel Hill Fire Department will have a pink fire truck parked in front of Carmichael Arena - this truck has travelled across the country promoting breast cancer awareness
- CHFD will also be conducting a "boot drive" collecting donations for UNC Lineberger Cancer Center.
Giveaways include:
- Pink and blue balloons
- Pink croakies for students
- Pink pom-poms and pink seat cushions will be given away by game sponsor United HealthCare
In addition, the halftime entertainment for the game will feature the third-annual Shag Dance Demonstration, featuring some of the best shag dancers across the state. The shaggers will be decked out in pink and performing to some of the most-loved beach music in the state of North Carolina.
