Coming into the game ranked #1, Duke hosted senior night, honoring the National Player of the Year and all-time ACC leading scorer J.J. Redick and two-time National Defensive Player of the Year Shelden Williams. North Carolina, the defending national champions, had lost the whole core of the team that won it all the year before, but came into the game on a 7-game winning streak. UNC forward Tyler Hansbrough scored 27 points, fellow freshman Danny Green came up with the key defensive stop and the 13th ranked Tar Heels held off No. 1 Duke 83-76.

North Carolina's Matt Doherty faces the Blue Devil's for the first time as Head Coach. Duke's Jason Williams puts up 32 points, however the Blue Devils struggle at the free throw line in this thriller that went down to the wire. Tar Heel Guard Joseph Forte has a stellar game, with 24 points and 18 rebounds, as North Carolina wins it 85-83.

ACC Leading Scorer Antawn Jamison and electric Guard Vince Carter lifted the #2 ranked North Carolina over the top ranked Duke Blue Devils.

The Duke Blue Devils hosted tobacco road rival, the North Carolina Tar Heels, with UNC prevailing 84-78. UNC led 32-21 at halftime and held their lead throughout the second half. UNC guards Shammond Williams and Jeff McInnis scored 26 and 25 points respectively and carried the Tar Heels to victory.

On senior night in Chapel Hill, the North Carolina Tar Heels, led by National Player of the Year Jerry Stackhouse, defeated cross-town rival Duke, 99-86. UNC Senior Donald Williams scored 16 of his 21 points in the second half and led the Tar Heels to a season sweep of Duke.

Two of college basketball's titans square off in a battle between nationally ranked #1 and #2. Duke's Grant Hill shows a championship heart, but the Blue Devils ultimately come up short in the end as Derrick Phelps'18-points and 6-assists led North Carolina's 89-78 upset over #1 Duke.

Matt Doherty, playing his final home game, sinks one at the end of regulation and sends the game into OT. Michael Jordan and Sam Perkins each score 25-points and North Carolina wins 96-83 in double-overtime preserving their perfect 14-0 ACC record.
