TALLAHASEE, Fla.-- No. 22 Florida State broke open a tight game, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to put away No. 23 North Carolina, 8-3, in the opening game of the series Sunday afternoon at JoAnne Graf Field. UNC bounced back to drop the Seminoles, 4-2, in game two behind strong pitching from Ashley Bone and Lori Spingola. Jordan Scarboro, Paige Williams and Kelli Wheeler each tallied two hits in the victory.
The Tar Heels are now 23-9, 3-2 ACC after the doubleheader and the Seminoles are 32-6, 7-1. It was the first loss for Florida State in conference play and their first loss at home.

Amber Parrish followed with a pinch-hit single to left field and Kelsey Green moved her over to second with a sacrifice bunt. Kelli Wheeler then roped an RBI-triple down the right field line, pushing the Tar Heels back ahead, 3-2.
Florida State countered with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to retake the lead, 4-3. Brianna Hamilton added three runs for the Seminoles with a bases-loaded triple off the center field wall, propelling FSU, 7-3. The `Noles tacked on another run on an error by Orr at first base, giving FSU an 8-3 advantage.
Carolina committed a season-high six errors in the loss, despite coming into the game leading the ACC in fielding percentage and ranking 14th nationally (.976). The six errors are also the second-most by a Carolina team in school history.
