Carolina Women's Golfers Ninth At Bryan National Collegiate

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. - The number six ranked University of North Carolina women's golf team is in ninth place at the Bryan National Collegiate after carding a 13-over-par 301. Sophomore Jackie Chang led the Tar Heels by firing an even par 72. The event is being played at the Bryan Park Players Course.
Chang, from Paradise Valley, Ariz., carded three birdies and three bogeys en route to her even par round and is tied for eighth place in the individual race. Sophomore Katherine Perry, from Cary, NC, is tied for 23rd after firing a 2-over par 74 in a round that included one birdie, one bogey and one double-bogey. Casey Grice, a sophomore from College Station, Texas, carded a 5-over par 77 In the first round and is tied for 43rd. Senior Allie White, from Lancaster, Ohio, carded a 6-over par 78 and is tied for 52nd. Catherine O'Donnell rounded out the Tar Heels lineup with a 10-over par 82 and is in 88th place. Courtney Gunter, a junior from Matthews, N.C., is competing as an individual and is tied for 52nd after shooting a 78.
Northwestern leads the field of 17 teams by firing a 2-over par290. South Carolina is two shots back in second place at 4-over par 292.Tennessee is in third place at 5-over par293. Wake Forest is two shots behind Tennessee in fourth place at 7-over par 295. Ohio State and Florida State are tied in fifth place after finishing the first round at 9-over par 297.
Katie Burnett of South Carolina grabbed the individual lead after firing a 2-under-par 70. Six players are tied for second at 1-under par71 - Tennessee's Erica Popson, Northwestern's Lauren Weaver, Ohio State's Rachel Rohanna, Wake Forest's Olafia Kristinsdottir, Duke's Lindy Duncan, and Tulane's Samantha Troyanovich. There are five players tied for eighth, including North Carolina's Jackie Chang.
The 54-hole event continues through Sunday at the Bryan Park Players Course, which features a par 72, 6,323-yard layout. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
