Holman & Keenan Tapped for LaxPower All-America Awards

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. - Junior Marcus Holman of Baltimore, Md. and sophomore R.G. Keenan of Perry Hall, Md. were named this week to the LaxPower.com third annual Men's Division I Lacrosse All-America Award Team. The All-America selections were chosen by a committee that included lacrosse experts and regular contributors to LaxPower.com.
LaxPower's All-American Award winners are chosen for a single 16-man team. They were selected based on their ability to perform at the highest level on a consistent basis throughout the 2012 season. The players were chosen on the ability to dominate at their positions while making major contributions to their team.
The 2012 team includes Steele Stanwick of Virginia, Will Manny of Massachusetts, Mark Matthews of Denver, Mike Sawyer of Loyola and Peter Baum of Colgate on attack.
The midfield includes Tom Schreiver of Princeton, Colin Briggs of Virginia, Robert Rotanz of Duke and Marcus Holman of North Carolina.
The defense includes Tucker Durkin of Johns Hopkins, Scott Ratliff of Loyola, Brian Megill of Syracuse and Kevin Randall of Notre Dame.
C.J. Costabile of Duke was chosen as the long stick midfielder while R.G. Keenan of North Carolina earned honors at the face-off specialist. The goalkeeper is John Kemp of Notre Dame.
Holman started all 17 games for the 11-6 Tar Heels in 2012. He led Carolina in goals with 39, assists with 35, points with 74, shots with 94 and shots on goal with 63. His .415 shooting percentage was second on the team behind only freshman midfielder Chdad Tutton's .465 mark. The 74 points by Holman are the third most in a single season in UNC history. The 39 goals matched the eighth most in a single year by a Tar Heel and the 35 assists were the fourth most in a season.
R.G. Keenan played in all 17 games for Carolina. He won 205 of 340 face-offs on the season for a winning percentage of .603 percent. He led the Tar Heels in ground balls with 102. In just two seasons Keenan has totaled 211 ground balls and won 396 face-offs. he already ranks fourth in career face-off wins in UNC history. His 102 ground balls this season were the ninth most in a single season and his 205 face-off wins were the fourth most in a single year in Tar Heel lore.
