Men's Lacrosse Defeats Brown, 19-7, Breschi Wins 175th Game At UNC

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Balanced offensive and defensive efforts lifted No. 6 North Carolina men's lacrosse over Brown, 19-7, Saturday afternoon at Dorrance Field.
With the win, the Tar Heels advance to 6-1 on the year, winning their fifth game at Dorrance Field this spring.
In addition, Saturday's victory was head coach Joe Breschi's 175 win as leader of the Tar Heels. Breschi is now the 27th head coach in Carolina Athletics history to win at least 175 games during their time in Chapel Hill.
How It Happened
• Brown opened the game scoring three-straight goals, leading 3-0 less than five minutes in.
• The Tar Heels closed the quarter on a 4-0 run, as Dominic Pietramala scored two first-quarter goals, leading 4-3 after 15 minutes.
• Carolina outscored Brown 4-1 in the second quarter, taking a four-goal lead into the half, 8-4.
• In the third, the Tar Heels scored eight of the nine goals in the frame, taking an 11-goal lead into the fourth, 16-5.
• Matt Wrede, Luke Macaluso and Alec Levy hit the back of the net in the fourth quarter, securing the win for the host Tar Heels.
Tar Heel Performances
• Luke Bair and Pietramala each scored a hat trick on the day.
• Owen Duffy posted five points (two goals, three assists), as Macaluso added a pair of goals himself.
• The trio of Josh Marcus, Kent Goode and Brayson Wilson halted seven shots.
• Brady Wambach (21-26) and Colin Hannigan (4-6) combined to win the faceoff battle.
• Kai Prohaszka led the Tar Heels with three caused turnovers.
