CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - UNC head softball coach Donna J. Papa announced Thursday that Boo Gillette has been promoted to assistant head coach entering her third year with the Tar Heels.
"I am pleased to announce that Boo Gillette's current assistant title has been changed to assistant head coach," Papa said. "In her role as recruiting coordinator, she has done an outstanding job of identifying and securing top recruits for our program. She has put us in a good position as we go forward. Boo has also shown a lot of growth in her position in the leadership area and the development of the players under her tutelage."
In addition to her recruiting duties, Gillette works primarily with Carolina's pitchers and catchers. She helped lead UNC to a No. 24 finish in the final USA Today/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I Top-25 poll for the 2012 season. She also helped coach the Tar Heels to the the 2012 Atlantic Coach Conference regular season crown with a 13-4 conference record, 43-15 overall, as the team advanced to the Athens Regional in the NCAA Tournament.
