September 17, 2012 | Football
GREENSBORO, N.C. --- North Carolina redshirt freshman tailback Romar Morris earned Atlantic Coast Conference receiver of the week honors for his performance against Louisville, the league office announced Monday. Morris amassed 202 all-purpose yards, scored two touchdowns and blocked a punt in UNC's 39-34 loss to the Cardinals.
The Salisbury, N.C., native had 149 yards receiving, 23 yards rushing and 30 yards on kick returns. He also blocked a punt in the fourth quarter, which led to a Carolina touchdown on the next play. Morris is the first Tar Heel to block a punt since Bruce Carter blocked one at Rutgers in 2010.
Morris became the first Tar Heel running back with a 100-yard receiving game since Anthony Elzy had 178 in 2010 vs. NC State. Morris caught five passes for 149 yards and scored on a 44-yard wheel route down the sideline and a 50-yard catch-and-run that pulled the Tar Heels to within five with 4:23 remaining.
