Gray Nabs ACC Rookie Of The Week Honors Again

Gray was instrumental in leading North Carolina (11-2) to a 3-0 record last week, including a 74-66 victory over previously unbeaten and No. 10-ranked South Carolina down in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The Sandersville, Ga., native averaged a team-leading 15.3 points per game last week. Gray also contributed 4.7 rebounds and shot 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the field and even better 58.3 percent clip from beyond the arc, making seven of her 12 attempts.
In the school record 124-point performance in the win over New Orleans, Gray shared game-high scoring honors with Diamond DeShields as both freshmen tossed in 20 points. Gray was 8-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range.
She had 12 points in the victory over the Gamecocks and capped the week on Saturday with 14 points and eight rebounds against High Point.
Carolina averaged 100.3 points in the three victories, and have scored over 100 points in three of the last four games.
In other news, Carolina is ranked No. 10 in this weeks Associated Press poll, the highest ranking for the Tar Heels this season.
After a lengthy break for Christmas, the Tar Heels return to the court on Jan. 2 to host James Madison for a 2 p.m., matchup at Carmichael Arena. UNC will open conference play later that week on Sunday at home against No. 8 Maryland at 3 p.m., on ESPNU.
