Buckland Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery
December 30, 2013 | Women's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL - North Carolina redshirt sophomore Megan Buckland will miss the remainder of the 2013-14 season after undergoing successful knee surgery earlier in the month of December.
Buckland, from High Point, N.C., injured her right knee against Tennessee on Nov. 11 and had surgery to repair the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) on Dec. 4.
She previously suffered the same injury to her left knee on two occasions in her basketball career, including her true freshman season at Carolina in 2011-12.
In 46 career games for the Tar Heels, Buckland has averaged 5.7 points and is a career 34.5 percent three-point shooter, making 57 of her 165 attempts from beyond the arc.
The No. 10 Tar Heels play host to James Madison on Thursday, Jan. 2 at 2 p.m., at Carmichael Arena. On Sunday, Carolina welcomes No. 8 Maryland for the ACC opener for both clubs at 3 p.m., on ESPNU.
