Tar Heel Spotlight: Amber Parrish

GoHeels.com is highlighting each Carolina softball player throughout the 2013 season. Today's Tar Heel spotlight is with sophomore Amber Parrish, a catcher from Wilson, N.C.
GoHeels.com: What is your best memory of your softball career so far?
Amber Parrish: Winning nationals with my travel ball team. We went undefeated in the tournament and when we won it was one of the best feelings ever.
GH: How did you get started playing softball?
AP: Well, I played baseball when I was younger until I was about 10, and then issues started because I as a girl in a "boys'" sport. So my mom made me try softball, and I've been playing it ever since.
GH: Why Carolina?
AP: Because it's a part of a tradition of excellence both academically and athletically.
GH: Favorite class this semester, and why?
AP: Sociology 122- it is about race and ethics. It really opens your eyes and challenges you about different issues in society about race and ethics, and it is very interesting
GH: What is your dream profession?
AP: To take care of underprivileged children
GH: Favorite pre-game meal?
AP: Salad and pasta
GH: What is your walk-up song?
AP: "Can't be Touched" by Roy Jones Jr.
GH: If you played another sport, what would it be?
AP: Basketball
