Heels Close Out Home Schedule With UNCG

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina will host UNC Greensboro Wednesday at 6 pm in the Tar Heels' final home contest of the regular season.

Coming into the Game
Carolina is 36-16 (12-6) on the season, shutting out East Carolina last Wednesday 8-0 before taking the series 2-1 over Georgia Tech Sunday and Monday. The Spartans are 33-13 overall and 10-7 in conference play. After winning five straight games, UNCG dropped the weekend series at Chattanooga 2-1.
North Carolina is 61-14 all-time against UNC Greensboro. The Tar Heels topped the Spartans in both contests last season, winning 11-0 and 10-0 in Chapel Hill.
Top Tar Heels
Kristen Brown is batting .366 with 32 RBIs and 34 runs scored on 53 hits, including 11 home runs this season. Brown was named the ACC Player of the Week on Monday, the first freshman to receive the honor this season. Constance Orr leads the team with 13 homers and has tallied 46 RBIs and 30 runs on 52 hits. Haleigh Dickey, who set a new Carolina career home run record this season, has 34 RBIs on 45 hits, including 10 homers this season.
Lori Spingola is 26-11 with a 2.53 ERA and a conference-leading 251 strikeouts in 229.1 innings pitched.
Scouting the Spartans
Katelyn Bedwell (.385) leads the team with 55 hits and 45 RBIs, while Ashley Figueroa (.311) is running on a 15-game hit streak and has 35 runs with 47 hits on the year. Lindsay Thomas has a team-high 39 runs scored on 51 hits, adding 38 RBIs and 14 home runs.
Raenanne Hanks is 17-6 (2.45 ERA), with 141 strikeouts in 148.1 innings in the circle.

UNC completes the 2013 regular season at Maryland this weekend with a three-game series Saturday and Sunday. The Tar Heels have a weekend off before heading to the ACC tournament, which will be held May 9-11 in Tallahassee, Fla.
