Tar Heels Battle Back For 3-1 Win

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Led by four players with double-digit kills, UNC came from behind to top San Francisco 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 26-24, 25-23) Saturday afternoon at the Blue Raider Bash.
Lauren Adkins posted 15 kills, and Kayla Berringer had 14 kills and three digs to help lead the Tar Heels over a solid USF team.
San Francisco's Katarina Pilepic tallied four kills and three digs to give the Dons a 25-20 first set win. Adkins had five kills and a block, and Ece Taner and Abigail Curry each had six digs, but UNC hit just .222 as a team.
USF took an early 4-1 lead in the second set, but the Tar Heels came back to take the game 25-18 and even the match. Jovana Bjelica had four kills and two blocks, and Taner added another six digs as Carolina hit a much-improved .480.
Despite a solid .393 attack by the Dons, Carolina took the third set 26-24 as Kayla Berringer posted five kills, and Bjelica and Adkins added four more apiece. Schnabl had nine assists and four digs, while Abigail Curry added 10 assists and three digs.
Set four was another battle, but UNC secured the match win with a 25-23 final set victory. Andrew had five kills and four digs, and Taner added six more digs to help lift Carolina over USF.
