DeShields Lone Freshman Selected To Wooden Midseason List

North Carolina freshman Diamond DeShields has been named to the John R. Wooden Award Women's Midseason Top 20 list, announced by the Los Angeles Athletic Club on Friday.
The Norcross, Ga., product is the only freshman listed among some of the most elite players in the sport. DeShields is averaging a team-leading 16.4 points in helping her ninth-ranked Tar Heels to a 15-3 record and its best national ranking in three seasons.
DeShields has elevated her game to the tune of 20.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in ACC play. She has garnered two ACC Rookie of the Week honors this season.
Carolina visits Boston College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
