Tar Heels Move Up To No. 5 In AP Poll

Tar Heel Poll Notes
• North Carolina is ranked No. 5 in this week's Associated Press top 25 poll, moving up a spot from last week.
• Carolina remained at No. 6 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll for the third week in a row.
•The Tar Heels began the 2014-15 season ranked sixth in the preseason. UNC started the season in the top 10 for the ninth time in 12 seasons under head coach Roy Williams.
• Carolina is ranked in the AP poll for the seventh week in a row. UNC was ranked in the final four polls of last season, finishing the year at No. 19 (the final AP poll is released prior to the NCAA Tournament each season).
Coming Up…
• The field for this week's Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas is loaded, with No. 2 Wisconsin (tied with Arizona), No. 5 Carolina, No. 18 Florida and No. 22 UCLA. Oklahoma was ranked last week and received votes this week, coming in at No. 26.
• Next week, the Tar Heels will host Iowa, which received votes in each of the first two weeks of the AP poll this season.
• Other 2014-15 Tar Heel opponents coming up soon on the schedule include No. 1 Kentucky (Dec. 13 in Lexington) and No. 16 Ohio State (in Chicago).

• There are five Atlantic Coast Conference teams ranked in this week's AP poll, including No. 4 Duke, No. 5 Carolina, No. 6 Louisville, No. 8 Virginia and No. 17 Miami.

• Carolina has been ranked in 823 AP polls, more than any school in the nation.
• The Tar Heels have been ranked in the AP Top 10 626 times, most in ACC history and second-most all-time behind Kentucky (636).
• Carolina has been ranked No. 5 in 64 polls in its history.
• The Tar Heels have achieved a Top 10 ranking in the AP poll in 52 of the poll's 66 seasons, including 46 of the last 49. Carolina has finished in the AP Top 10 34 times, including 23 of the last 34.
