Tar Heels 12th In AP Poll

Tar Heel Poll Notes
• North Carolina is ranked No. 12 in this week's Associated Press top 25 poll, dropping seven slots from No. 5 last week after losing to unranked Butler in the Battle 4 Atlantis last Wednesday.
• This is Carolina's first week outside of the AP top 10 this season after spending the first three polls at No. 6 for two weeks and No. 5 for one week.
•The Tar Heels began the 2014-15 season ranked sixth in the preseason. UNC started the season in the top 10 for the ninth time in 12 seasons under head coach Roy Williams.
• Carolina is ranked in the AP poll for the eighth week in a row. UNC was ranked in the final four polls of last season, finishing the year at No. 19 (the final AP poll is released prior to the NCAA Tournament each season).
Looking Back…
• Carolina is No. 12 in this week's poll after going 2-1 last week at the Battle 4 Atlantis in the Bahamas, losing its opener to unranked Butler (now ranked No. 23). The Tar Heels bounced back to pick up victories over a pair of ranked teams in then-No. 22 UCLA and then-No. 18 Florida (both of whom dropped out of this week's ranking).
Coming Up...
• This week, the Tar Heels will host unranked Iowa, which received votes in each of the first two weeks of the AP poll this season, on Wednesday and unranked East Carolina on Sunday.
• Other Tar Heel opponents coming up soon on the schedule include No. 1 Kentucky (Dec. 13 in Lexington) and No. 14 Ohio State (Dec. 20 in Chicago).
ACC Teams in the Poll
• There are five Atlantic Coast Conference teams ranked in this week's AP poll, including No. 4 Duke, No. 5 Louisville, No. 7 Virginia, No. 12 Carolina and No. 15 Miami.
Carolina's Poll History
• Carolina has been ranked in 824 AP polls, more than any school in the nation.
• The Tar Heels have been ranked in the AP Top 10 626 times, most in ACC history and second-most all-time behind Kentucky (636).
• The Tar Heels have achieved a Top 10 ranking in the AP poll in 52 of the poll's 66 seasons, including 46 of the last 49. Carolina has finished in the AP Top 10 34 times, including 23 of the last 34.
