Tar Heels No. 24 In AP Poll

Tar Heel Poll Notes
• North Carolina is ranked No. 24 in this week's Associated Press top 25 poll, falling three spots from No. 21 after losing at top-ranked Kentucky last Saturday.
• This is Carolina's third week outside of the AP top 10 this season after spending the first three polls at No. 6 for two weeks and No. 5 for one week.
• Carolina is ranked in the AP poll for the 10th week in a row. UNC was ranked in the final four polls of last season, finishing the year at No. 19 (the final AP poll is released prior to the NCAA Tournament each season).
•The Tar Heels began the 2014-15 season ranked sixth in the preseason. UNC started the season in the top 10 for the ninth time in 12 seasons under head coach Roy Williams.
Looking Back…
• Ranked 21st last week, Carolina lost at No. 1 Kentucky, 84-70, last Saturday. The week before, 12th-ranked Tar Heels lost at home to unranked Iowa in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and beat unranked East Carolina.
Coming Up...
• This week, the Tar Heels will play a road game at unranked UNCG on Tuesday night in the Greensboro Coliseum, then face No. 12 Ohio State on Saturday afternoon in Chicago in the CBS Sports Classic. Early Atlantic Coast Conference ranked opponents include No. 21 Notre Dame (Jan. 5) and No. 4 Louisville (Jan. 10).
ACC Teams in the Poll
• There are six Atlantic Coast Conference teams ranked in this week's AP poll, including No. 2 Duke, No. 4 Louisville, No. 6 Virginia, No. 18 Miami, No. 21 Notre Dame and No. 24 Carolina.

• Carolina has been ranked in 826 AP polls, more than any school in the nation.
• The Tar Heels have been ranked in the AP Top 10 626 times, most in ACC history and second-most all-time behind Kentucky (638).
• The Tar Heels have achieved a Top 10 ranking in the AP poll in 52 of the poll's 66 seasons, including 46 of the last 49. Carolina has finished in the AP Top 10 34 times, including 23 of the last 34.
