ACADEMICS
Congratulations to the December Graduates!
After finishing final exams one last time, several Tar Heels took the time to look back on their years at UNC and provide some highlights to GoHeels.com
Two Student-Athletes Among Eve Carson Scholars
Two North Carolina student-athletes – one current and one former – are among three 2015 Eve Carson Scholars. This year's honorees are Michael Adams, Paige Nielsen and Nancy Smith. Nielsen is a current member of the UNC women's soccer team while Smith is a former member of the women's fencing team.
MBB: Seymore Succeeding On and Off Court
Sasha Seymore recently won one of the most prestigious post-graduate scholarships in America, the George J. Mitchell Scholarship, which will support his graduate study in Northern Ireland next September. Yet he fully realizes the reaction he receives from telling people about that honor tends to pale in comparison to telling them his other big news from the fall: making the Carolina varsity basketball team.
MSOC: Two Tar Heels Named To Scholar All-Region Team
Following season in which UNC reached the NCAA quarterfinals for the sixth time in the past seven years, UNC men's soccer standouts Jonathan Campbell and Rob Lovejoy were named to the 2014 NSCAA Men's University Division Scholar All-South Region team.
VB: Nelson Named Senior CLASS Award All-America
UNC volleyball's Chaniel Nelson has been selected as a 2014 Senior CLASS Award First-Team All-America for her outstanding career, on and off the court, at Carolina.
CAROLINA OUTREACH
Women's Soccer Carols and Dances at Charles House
After kicking off exams in the morning, members of the UNC women's soccer team relaxed in the afternoon by visiting Charles House Eldercare Center to sing carols.
Men's Basketball Shops for Salvation Army
The Tar Heels provided more than $2,500 worth of gifts for local kids.
Tar Heels Help Make the Holidays Brighter
Every December, UNC student-athletes and staff “adopt” families through the Share Your Holidays program, run by Durham Social Services. Each team receives a wish list then shops for, wraps and delivers the presents, making the holidays brighter for a local family.
LEADERSHIP ACADEMY
Jordanian Team Learns Leadership Lessons at UNC
Leadership lessons from the Richard A. Baddour Carolina Leadership Academy went global recently as UNC hosted two training sessions for Jordan's Under-17 Girls Soccer National Team.
