Bowen & Murray Earn All-America Honors

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior Satara Murray and junior Katie Bowen have been honored with selections to All-America Teams in the past few days.
Bowen, a defender from Auckland, New Zealand, won first-team honors from BennettRank, joining a distinguished group of 10 other student-athletes on its 11-person squad.

Murray, a senior defender from Austin, Texas, was named to the third-team All-America squad tapped by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Both Murray and Bowen were key players during for a team that had to overcome much in the way of both graduation and injury attrition from its predecessor.
Bowen led the team in minutes player as she was on the pitch for 1875 minutes of the 1882 the Tar Heels played in 2014. Murray was just behind at 1866 minutes played out of 1882.
Murray and Bowen led a UNC defensive unit which allowed just 15 goals in 20 games. The Tar Heels recorded eight shutouts and did not surrender more than two goals in any game. UNC finished 14-4-2, was ranked sixth in the final national polls and shared the ACC regular season championship with Florida State.
