I'm A Tar Heel: Paige Hanson
April 23, 2014 | Women's Lacrosse
Dear Tar Heel Fans,
When I reflect on my time at Carolina, I feel an overwhelming surge of gratitude above all else. I am grateful for our incredible fans, and on behalf of my team, I sincerely thank each and every one of you for your unwavering support.
I am incredibly grateful for all of the athletic and academic opportunities I have experienced so far at UNC. Highlights include winning a national championship in 2013, and studying abroad with the Honors Program in Rome in 2012. I am grateful that lacrosse has given me this opportunity to attend such an unbelievable institution, both academically and athletically.
I am grateful for my teammates who have endlessly motivated me, whether it is cheering for me during a run test or supporting me through the process of writing my senior honors thesis, not to mention the lifelong friendships I have made. I am grateful for my coaches, who stand behind all of us no matter what, and who celebrated my Elite 89 academic award last spring at the Final Four as much as they celebrated the athletic awards and accolades of our team.
I am grateful that my experience as a UNC student-athlete has been so amazing that it gives me goosebumps whenever I close my eyes and think back to the many moments of pure joy I have shared with my teammates when the final seconds of a game have ticked away. I am grateful for every single time I have proudly put on my Carolina blue jersey over the past four years, and I am grateful that we still have the ACC and NCAA tournaments left in our season this year.
And most importantly, I am grateful that I will forever be a Tar Heel.
Sincerely, Paige Hanson
