Tar Heels Up to No. 15 In AP Poll

Tar Heel Poll Notes
• North Carolina is ranked No. 15 in this week's Associated Press top 25 poll, moving up three spots from No. 18 last week. The Tar Heels also are up one spot to No. 16 in this week's ESPN/USA Today coaches poll as well. Carolina split a pair of games last week, falling by a point to No. 13 Notre Dame (now up to No. 12) and coming from behind to beat No. 5 Louisville (now down to No. 6).
• Carolina is ranked in the AP poll for the 14th week in a row. UNC was ranked in the final four polls of last season, finishing the year at No. 19 (the final AP poll is released prior to the NCAA Tournament each season).
•The Tar Heels began the 2014-15 season ranked sixth in the preseason. UNC started the season in the top 10 for the ninth time in 12 seasons under head coach Roy Williams.
Looking Back…
• Ranked 18th last week, Carolina lost 71-70 last Monday night in the Smith Center to No. 13 Notre Dame. Five days later, the Tar Heels came back from a 13-pont, second-half deficit to beat fifth-ranked Louisville.
Coming Up...
• This week, the Tar Heels will play at NC State on Wednesday and host Virginia Tech on Sunday evening. Next week, Carolina will visit Wake Forest and host Florida State.
ACC Teams in the Poll
• There are five Atlantic Coast Conference teams ranked in this week's AP poll, including No. 2 Virginia, No. 4 Duke, No. 6 Louisville, No. 12 Notre Dame and No 15 Carolina.

• Carolina has been ranked in 830 AP polls, more than any school in the nation.
• The Tar Heels have been ranked in the AP Top 10 626 times, most in ACC history and second-most all-time behind Kentucky (638).
• The Tar Heels have achieved a Top 10 ranking in the AP poll in 52 of the poll's 66 seasons, including 46 of the last 49. Carolina has finished in the AP Top 10 34 times, including 23 of the last 34.
