#6 Tar Heels Open This Weekend With Four Matches

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The sixth-ranked University of North Carolina men's tennis team will open its 2015 campaign this weekend as it hosts four indoor matches at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
This weekend's schedule is as follows:
Friday, January 16, UNC vs. East Carolina, 2:30 p.m.
Friday, January 16, UNC vs. Longwood, 6:30 p.m.
Monday, January 19, UNC vs. UT-Chattanooga, 10 a.m.
Monday, January 19, UNC vs. Howard, 3 p.m.

Coach Sam Paul's team heads into the season ranked sixth nationally. Individually, sophomore Brayden Schnur is ranked second in singles and sophomore Ronnie Schneider is ranked 27th. The East Carolina match on Friday is the season opener for both teams. Longwood and Howard will also be playing their season openers against the Tar Heels this weekend. UTC will come to Chapel Hill Monday with a match under its belt after it plays Middle Tennessee State Saturday.
The matches will be played under experimental rules approved by the ITA and NCAA. In bullet form here are some details on the rules.
• The three doubles matches will be one standard set, no-ad scoring, with a 7-point tiebreak played if the score reaches 6-all.
• The six singles matches will be best two of three sets, no-ad scoring.
• No three-minute warmup, either before doubles or singles
• The players and umpires will go to their courts, flip a coin and start playing.
•Five minutes between doubles and singles (not 10)
