Women Finish First Round of Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The women's golf team concluded the first round of the Landfall Tradition on Friday. Elizabeth Mallett leads the team at 4-over-par.
“It was not a great day but we are looking forward to the next two days,” head coach Jan Mann said. “This team has the ability to go low and I believe it is a course that suits their game. They just need to play with more confidence and have some fun out there!”
The team struggled through the day shooting 20-over-par and is tied for 17th. Elizabeth Mallett led the team at 4-over-par. She shot 37 with two birdies on her first nine. Bryana Nguyen and Leslie Cloots shot 5-over-par in the round and are tied for 53rd. Both women had two birdies on the day. Freshman Kelly Whaley was 6-over and tied for 62nd. Rachel Jones competing as an individual shot 8-over-par. Lexi Harkins finished the day at 9-over-par and is tied for 87th.
The Tar Heels are looking to move up the leaderboard in tomorrow's round. The team is nine strokes out of cracking the top 10. Live results for the tournament can be found on Golfstat.com. A recap of performances and results after each round will be on GoHeels.com.
