Turner Named First-Team All-America By Phil Steele

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina senior guard Landon Turner was named a first-team All-America by Phil Steele and 10 Tar Heels were named to his All-ACC team.
Earning first-team all-conference honors were Turner, running back Elijah Hood and punt returner Ryan Switzer. Selected to the second team were quarterback Marquise Williams, offensive tackle Jon Heck and cornerback M.J. Stewart. The third team was represented by wide receiver Mack Hollins, center Lucas Crowley, linebacker Shakeel Rashad and cornerback Des Lawrence.
Turner, a native of Harrisonburg, Va., helped pave the way for the Tar Heels to rush for more than 222 yards per game and rank 11th in the country in scoring offense. Turner graded out at 90 percent or better in 11 of 13 games and won ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors four times.
Carolina is one of 11 teams in the country to rush for more than 200 yards per game and pass for more than 250. Running behind Turner, tailback Elijah Hood rushed for 1,345 yards and quarterback Marquise WIllams ran for 867.
The 10th-ranked Tar Heels (11-2, 8-0) face Baylor (9-3) in the Russell Athletic Bowl on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 5:30 pm in Orlando.
