Softball "Shares Its Holiday" With Family In Need
December 21, 2015 | Softball
As the fall semester wrapped up, UNC student-athletes balanced studying for finals and planning winter break travel with a broader department goal: making the holiday season happier for those who are struggling.
All 28 of UNC's varsity teams participated in outreach activities that provided gifts for local families. The softball team took part in Durham Social Services' Share Your Christmas program. Student-athletes shopped for, wrapped and delivered gifts for their “adopted” families. Tar Heel teams, as well as Athletic Department offices and The Rams Club, collaborated to provide presents and holiday cheer for a total of 25 families.
Throughout the year, UNC student-athletes are active in a variety of outreach activities. Last year, Tar Heels devoted more than 3,600 hours to community service.
