North Carolina (21-6, 8-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) shot 52.5 percent for the game, and led by as many as 40 points in the second half, its largest advantage in any game this season.
Gray's 16 points put her in double figures for the 22nd straight game. She made 7-of-10 shots in only 15 minutes. A balanced attack saw Jamie Cherry score 13 points off the bench, N'Dea Bryant had 12 points and both Latifah Coleman and Jessica Washington added 10.
Wake Forest (10-18, 1-13) was led by Millesa Calicott with 16 points and Amber Campbell had 14.
North Carolina broke the game open early with a torrid shooting performance, making 10 of its first 15 shots. When Washington connected from distance midway through the first half, the Tar Heels enjoyed a 22-10 lead over the Deacs.
The lead grew to 33-14 after three consecutive three-pointers were knocked down by the Heels, the first two from Brittany Rountree and the last by Cherry.
Gray led the early scoring binge with 14 points, converting six of her eight shots in the first half.
The lead grew to 24 points, before Carolina settled on a 43-23 advantage at the half, its largest lead at intermission since the season opener against Howard.
UNC stormed out of halftime with a 20-8 run to go up 63-31. Cherry capped the rally with another Tar Heel three-pointer. UNC shot a season best 9-of-18 from beyond the arc with both Cherry and Rountree going 3-for-5 from distance.
Tonight was the annual Play4Kay cancer awareness game. Both teams wore pink (UNC) or pink-trimmed (Wake) uniforms to help support the fight against breast cancer. On the Carolina bench for the game was honorary coach Ashley Burnette.
The 11 year old is the 2014-2015 Hyundai Hope On Wheels National Youth Ambassador. As their ambassador, she travels around the country sharing her story and her message of hope to other kids and families battling cancer. At the end of this year, HHOW will have funded over $100 million for pediatric cancer research since its inception in 1998. She was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma in August 2010 and then later developed evidence of Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. She's been cancer free since August 2012.
