CHAPEL HILL—North Carolina (19-9, 9-6 ACC) will play its final two road games of the 2014-15 season in a four-day stretch starting on Saturday at Miami (18-10, 8-7). Carolina and the Hurricanes will tipoff just after 2 p.m. at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Fla.
With several inches of snow on the ground in Chapel Hill from a storm that hit on Wednesday night, the warmth of Miami should be a welcome change.
CBS will televise the game nationally, and Spero Dedes (play-by-play) and Doug Gottlieb (analyst) will call the action.
UNC will be playing Miami for the only time during the 2014-15 regular season. Last year, the Hurricanes beat Carolina in the Smith Center in their only meeting. The Tar Heels lead the all-time series, 18-6, but Miami has won the last four matchups (three in 2012-13 and one last year).
The Tar Heels enter the game with an ACC record of 9-6, tied for fifth place with Syracuse behind Virginia (14-1), Duke (12-3), Notre Dame (12-4) and Louisville (10-5). Miami is a game behind Carolina at 8-7.
UNC is No. 15 in this week's AP poll and No. 18 in the coaches poll. The Tar Heels are No. 16 in the KenPom.com ratings and have lost five of their last seven games.
A victory over the Hurricanes would mark the 56th 20-win season in Carolina history. The Tar Heels are 19-9 entering Saturday.
Miami enters Saturday's game with a record of 18-10, 8-7 in the ACC. The Hurricanes have won three of their last four outings, including a home win over Florida State on Wednesday night. In those last four games, UM has beaten Virginia Tech, Boston College and FSU and lost by two points at Louisville. Miami is No. 61 overall in the KenPom.com rankings, coming in at No. 45 in adjusted offensive efficiency and No. 115 in adjusted defensive efficiency.
Carolina leads the series with the Hurricanes, 18-6, including a 9-3 advantage in Chapel Hill, a 7-2 edge in Coral Gables and a 2-1 edge at neutral sites. Miami has won the last four installments in the series, including three wins in the 2012-13 season (two in the regular season and one in the ACC Tournament championship game). Last year, Miami won, 63-57, in Chapel Hill.
Prior to the 2012-13 season and the current four-game UM winning streak in the rivalry, Carolina had beaten Miami 10 consecutive times.
After Tuesday's game, the Tar Heels will visit Georgia Tech on Tuesday night before hosting Duke on Senior Night in Chapel Hill on Saturday March 7.
