CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Carolina softball bounced back in a big way with a 14-6 win over Coastal Carolina Thursday night in Anderson Stadium.
Kristen Brown led the Tar Heels (16-5) with three runs and five RBIs on the day, including a home run in a huge fourth inning that helped give North Carolina an eight-run lead. Brown finished the game off in the bottom of the fifth inning as she beat the defense to home plate after a wild pitch.
Kaylee Carlson and Sydney Matzko split the pitching duties for the day, with Matzko picking up the win thanks to 2.2 innings pitched with only three hits and three strikeouts.
The win moves the Tar Heels' record at home to 8-0 this season, while it also marks the sixth game UNC has powered to a win in only five innings.
North Carolina is now set to host a series against ACC foe Boston College. The Tar Heels will face the Eagles in a doubleheader this Saturday starting at 1 p.m., and then will finish the series on Sunday at 1 p.m.
