No. 18 Tar Heels Host Appalachian State Tuesday

CHAPEL HILL --- No. 18 North Carolina kicks off a four-game homestand with a visit from in-state foe Appalachian State Tuesday evening at 6 at Boshamer Stadium. The Tar Heels are 14-9 and 5-4 in the ACC after a series win at Georgia Tech over the weekend, the program's first in Atlanta since 2009. Appalachian State is 7-16 and 2-7 in the Sun Belt after winning two of three against UL Monroe in Boone. Tickets are available at the Boshamer box office and online at GoHeels.com/tickets.

NORTH CAROLINA-APPALACHIAN STATE SERIES HISTORY
• North Carolina is 23-3 all-time against Appalachian State in a series that dates back to 1974.
• The Tar Heels have won 14 in a row in the series, including 13 straight under head coach Mike Fox.
• The two teams last met in 2014, a 12-1 Carolina win in Chapel Hill on Feb. 25. Appalachian State's last victory in the series came in 1997, an 11-10 win in 10 innings at Boshamer Stadium.
• Carolina scored six runs in the first and led 9-0 after two in last year's win. Parks Jordan, Tom Zengel, Korey Dunbar and Joe Dudek each drove in a pair of runs and Reilly Hovis got the win in relief.
