Howard Throws NCAA 2nd-Best In Shot

RALEIGH, N.C. – The University of North Carolina track and field teams had three individual winners today between the Raleigh Relays and the Florida State Relays.
RJ Alowonle ran 51.94 in the men's 400-meter hurdles to take first in the event. It's the first time Alowonle has ran the event since taking fifth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
Lizzy Whelan also took first today with a win in the women's 800. Whelan ran 2:09.91 to beat her competition by more than a second. Karley Rempel finished in ninth at 2:13.33
Natisha Dixon ran 13.79 in the women's 100-meter hurdles for a PR. Dixon's previous time was 14.05 and she took third in the event.
Xenia Rahn took ninth in the women's javelin at 135-4 (41.24 meters).
Over in Tallahassee, Sarah Howard claimed first in the women's shot put with a throw reaching 55-9 (16.99 meters). Howard's throw is the second farthest throw in the NCAA this year.
Houston Summers finished in second in the men's javelin. Summers threw 207-3 (63.18 meters).
Austin Vegas took second in the men's pole vault with a clearance of 15-7 (4.75 meters).
