Seven Tar Heels Lead All-ACC Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Regular-season champion North Carolina leads all schools with seven selections to the 2015 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Lacrosse Team, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.
UNC senior Courtney Waite and sophomore Caylee Waters were selected to the first team in a vote of the league's eight head coaches. Teammates Sammy Jo Tracy, Molly Hendrick, Maggie Bill, Margaret Corzel and Caileigh Sindall were voted to the second team.
Boston College led in first-team selections with three – junior Sarah Mannelly, senior Mikaela Rix and senior Covie Stanwick – and the Eagles placed a total of four student-athletes on the All-ACC team. Duke had five overall selections, including one first-team selection in senior Kerrin Maurer.
Other first-teams selections are Syracuse juniors Halle Majorana and Kayla Treanor, Virgina seniors Casey Bocklet and Morgan Stephens, Louisville junior Kaylin Morissette, Notre Dame junior Barbara Sullivan and Virginia Tech senior Megan Will.
Earning All-ACC honors for the fourth straight season are Boston College's Rix and Stanwick, while Duke's Maurer and Trimble, and Virginia's Swan are three-time honorees. BC's Mannelly, Duke's Duryea, Carolina's Waters, Syracuse's Treanor and Virginia Tech's Will are repeat All-ACC selections.
The 2015 All-ACC Women's Lacrosse Team features nine of the ACC's 10 leading scorers, including conference leader Fortunato of Notre Dame (4.38 points per game), and Boston College's Stanwick (4.12) and Virginia's Bocklet (4.0). Louisville's Morissette leads in draw controls (10.5 per game), while Duke goalkeeper Duryea owns the ACC's lowest goals-against average (7.08).
Virginia's Swan leads in assists per gamer (2.00), while Notre Dame defender Sullivan sets the pace in caused turnovers (1.75 per game).
The ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship gets underway on Thursday, April 23 at Virginia's Klockner Stadium, with all eight teams in quarterfinal action beginning at 11 a.m. Thursday's winners will meet in the semifinals on Friday, April 24 at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m., and the ACC Championship title game is set for Sunday, April 26 at 1 p.m.
All seven games of the tournament will be televised on the ACC's Regional Sports Networks (RSN) and will also be available on ESPN3.
